Kenya
Safari under the tropical sun
The fairytale landscape takes on different forms in different parts of the country. On one side, the tropical sun glows on red dust where dirty off-roads roam. Herds of antelopes and gazelles scurrying among twisted acacia trees or lionesses lurking behind a veil of yellow grass. On the other side, luxury hotels boasting several gold stars. All this is decorated with climbing exotic plants of different shapes and scents, lying on white sandy beaches where colorful fish frolic in the depths of the azure, blue sea.
Diversity and poverty have also reflected in the cuisine. The food is generally simple but filling. The staple of the natives is ugali corn porridge with whatever is available. Don't expect meat though, they eat very little of it. They mainly enjoy corn, beans and vegetable sauces. But in restaurants, meat is number one. You can try giraffe, antelope, crocodile or ostrich meat. They also have their pombe beer, which is fermented from millet bananas, sugar and herbs. They make it at home and it's quite strong compared to ours. It's similar to the local wine, which is made from papaya.
There is an impressive number of golf courses. With its thirty-nine golf courses, Kenya is hot on the heels of the Africa’s number one, South Africa. The quality of the golf courses, combined with the charm of the surrounding countryside, is evident by the fact that twelve of them are used for championship tournaments.
The Republic of Kenya is a coastal state in East Africa on the Indian Ocean. While the coastline is lined with white beaches and verdant mangrove forests, towards the west the landscape becomes more desolate, arid and wilder. In the north, savannahs are replaced by hot deserts and semi-deserts. Here you will find Lake Victoria (Ukerewe), the largest in Africa. Kenya lies in the equatorial and monsoon zones. Kenya is famous for its national parks in the savannahs and its great willingness to attract foreign tourists. The country is a presidential republic. Kenya is named after its highest mountain, Mount Kenya.
What you will experience on a company tour
Tsavo East
This national park is one of the oldest and most popular parks in Kenya. It is made up of long savannahs and plains covered in bush. The Galana River flows through it. There are many wild animals to be seen here, such as lions, zebras, giraffes, elephants, rhinos and buffalos. There is also the Aruba Dam, where wild herds of elephants come for a drink.
Mombasa
An ancient city unique to the daily life of Kenyans. A long and colorful history breathes on the visitor from every corner.
Fort Jessus
Completed in 1593, this fort is a landmark in Mombasa. It was built by the Portuguese who built it to keep an eye on what was happening in the Indian Ocean.
Moi Aveneue
The two pairs of elephant tusks that tower on the main shopping street are an interesting symbol of the city. It was erected in 1952 in honor of a distinguished visitor – Princess Elizabeth. It was here that she was caught up in the news that her father, the King of England, had died. She was leaving Mombasa as Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain.
There is also the Hindu Swaminarayan Temple, the Museum of the Monuments of the Old City, typical streets and markets.
Malindi
This city attracts more with its beautiful sunny beaches than with historical monuments. White sand beaches dotted with palm trees stretch along the azure, blue surface of the Indian Ocean. There is, of course, the possibility of snorkeling.
Lamu
Kenya's oldest city, located on the island of the same name. You can run through the UNESCO-listed city with bated breath without having to be prodded. It will charm you with its well-preserved houses, winding streets, fortresses, mosques and museum displays.
