Dachstein, Austria
Dachstein – “the three-thousand-meter roof of the Alps”
The Dachstein massif is an Austrian limestone massif located in the region of Upper Austria, Styria and Salzburg. The highest point is the Hoher Dachstein, which reaches an altitude of almost 3,000 meters.
The south face is particularly impressive at 1100 meters high. A cable car takes you to the top. There, in addition to a wonderful view, you can also enjoy the Skywalk, a suspension bridge and stairs to the void. You can also enter the Ice Palace, see the ice sculptures or the glacial crevasse.
Below the south face of the massif lies the mountain plateau and winter cross-country skiing paradise Ramsau am Dachstein. This area is also a good starting point in summer. The cable car to Dachstein is not far away and fit individuals can also hike to the top of Dachstein on foot. The steep path leads first to the Guttenberghaus hut, then through the undulating plateau of the massif to the final climb directly on the glacier.
The river Enns flows through the valley, which is divided by the Dachstein massif and the mountains of the Schladming Tauern, headed by the Planai, known mainly among Alpine skiers for its ski area. The river itself can be used for rafting – whether you are a beginner or an advanced rafter.
The incentive tour to the Dachstein and Schladming area is designed for groups who want an outdoor experience involving physical exertion, however the level of exertion is up to each individual. Beautiful alpine scenery, views of the mountain peaks, walks around waterfalls or relaxing in alpine meadows – you can look forward to it all on this tour.

TRIP TO THE WATERFALLS
The Riesachfälle waterfalls are located on the Riesachbach stream at the end of the Untertal valley in the Low Tatras directly above Schladming. The Riesachbach flows out of Lake Riesachsee (1338m above sea level) and overcomes two massive rock steps in a rock gorge.
RAFTING ON THE RIVER ENNS
The river Enns has its sources on the slopes of Austria's highest mountain range, the High Tatras, but it also draws its water from the famous glaciated Dachstein massif.
The Enns River is initially light, fast-flowing water that gradually turns into pleasant rapids. All safety is guaranteed by a local guide and full equipment.
WALK AROUND THE TOWN OF SCHLADMING
Schladming is a small historic town located in the heart of the Dachstein Tauern region. The historic center, headed by the Town Gate or the remains of the town wall, shows a rich history. You can learn more about it in the local museum, set up in an old reconstructed wooden building from the 17th century.
CLIMBING THE GUTTENBERGHUTTE
For the more active participants, a climb directly from the hotel to the Guttenberghutte hut, which is already part of the Dachstein summit massif, is possible. The elevation difference is more than 1,000m and is a real challenge.
In Ramsau, it is possible to arrange easier hikes under the Dachstein walls or rent mountain bikes and ride some of the trails on bicycles.
Another program option is the attractive Kleterrsteig (Via Feratta) directly in the wall of the Dachstein massif.
GLACIER TREK
Another option is to take the cable car to the top of the massif and trek in the upper parts of the glacier. The cable car also provides an interesting program and an attractive experience for less sporty participants.
