To the beauty of the waters and slopes of the Salzkammergut

The beautiful area of the Salzkammergut offers a number of program possibilities. The cultural and historical richness and beauty of the Alpine landscape invites you to explore, hike and take a cruise on one of the many lakes.

The Salzkammergut is a region in central Austria. The region covers a territory of the three Austrian states of Upper Austria, Styria and Salzburg. The Celts were the first to exploit the natural salt reserves here. The salt gave the whole area its name. Salt from the Salzkammergut was also exported to Bohemia, which is why a horse-drawn railway from Gmunden via Linz to České Budějovice was put into operation between 1827 and 1836.

The Salzkammergut is located east of Salzburg in the foothills of the Dachstein massif. The mountain giants are mirrored in more than 70 dark blue glacial lakes. The entire salt chamber area has become a popular spa and tourist destination and is rightly described as one of the most beautiful places in Europe. In 1997, the southern part of the Salzkammergut around Dachstein and Hallstatt was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Klettersteig (Via Ferrata) over Lake Hallstatt

The difficulty level of the routes is mostly B, C. We will climb smooth walls, ridges and chimneys and try out a number of technical aids such as ladders and footbridges.

A tour of the historic town of Hallstatt

A leisurely stroll with enchanting views of the lake and the giant mountains hugging this body of water, reminiscent of the Nordic fjords. In addition, participants can enjoy a boat tour on Lake Hallstatt and the opportunity to shop in the local stylish shops.

Circling around Loser back to Hallstatt Lake

We will arrive by bus at the foot of the Loser Mountain massif, where we will mount our bikes at the Blaalm shepherd's hut and ride along the Rettenbach mountain stream through a canyon for about 17km downhill to the imperial spa town of Bad Ischl. From there we drive the flat road to the Hallstatt lake / town of Hallstatt.

Five-fingers viewpoint / Krippenstein

The most beautiful viewpoint in the Alps, towering over a 400 m deep abyss in the Hallstatt-Dachstein area. The hand-shaped structure – hence the name 'Five Fingers' – has five different bridges measuring about 4x1m. These bridges allow for unique experiences.

A tour of the imperial town of Bad Ischl

Walk through the imperial town past the imperial villa, the summer residence of Empress Sisi and Emperor Franz Joseph.

Trekking in the Koppenbrüllerhöhle cave

An adrenaline-filled hike through the interior of an active cave, which filters the streams of water flowing through the Dachstein massif. The journey offers an unusual experience on suspended walkways, rope ladders or by stretching through narrow, half-flooded passages.
