The green heart of Austria
Styria is a charming land of mountains and forests, vineyards and orchards, beautiful towns and quaint villages. The popular region known as the "Styrian Thermal Spring Region" is located just 65 km southeast of the provincial capital Graz. Here you can enjoy original spa relaxation as well as sports activities to improve your vitality.
Styria is a federal state in the south-east of Austria. Interestingly, it was part of the union of Bohemia and the Alps for a short time under the rule of Premysl Otakar II - effectively from 1261 to 1276.
It is the second largest Austrian state in terms of area. It covers an area of 16,388 km2. Forests cover 60 percent of its territory, making it the greenest province in Austria, and it is nicknamed the "Green Heart of Austria".
Here you can enjoy spa relaxation as well as sporting activities, whether hiking or on easy cycling trails, which allow you to discover the beauty of the landscape. In resorts such as Bad Radkersburg, Bad Gleichenberg, Loipersdorf, Bad Blumau, Bad Waltersdorf and Sebersdorf, you can enjoy the thermal healing springs that gush from the depths of the earth directly into the pools.
Local pumpkin specialties, first-class cheeses, delicious Zott chocolate and exclusive wines and home-made spirits are sought after.

Tips for accommodation
ROGNER BAD BLUMAU *****
The Rogner Bad Blumau in the heart of the Styrian thermal region is not just a spa hotel, but a so-called "Gesamtkunstwerk" ("complete work of art"), designed by the famous Austrian architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
Rogner Bad Blumau is a voyage of discovery. The leafy roofs, round shapes, colourful facades and golden domes, surrounded by fields and meadows, created a living work of art. The unique mineral spring of Vulkania is of volcanic origin, concentrated in the healing Lake Vulkania and includes underwater music. Bathing in this spring, the water feels like silk to the touch.
In addition to the 2,400 different windows and 330 columns, the hotel also boasts a pool and thermal world with 11 different indoor and outdoor pools, whirlpools, a wave pool and children's wading pools. There is also a Melchior mineral spring and a sauna world with various saunas and relaxation rooms.
Spa Therme Blumau is clearly the most original of the original spas in Austria and well worth seeing.
