The green island of dreams

In Madeira, you can find several worlds at once despite its seemingly small size. Beautiful, lush green mountains, partly similar to South America, seaside towns and breathtaking views of the wide blue open ocean. This blossoming island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean will delight fans of active leisure.

Madeira will also captivate you with its diverse nature, as you pass laurel and eucalyptus trees on your hikes along the lavender, orchids, hydrangeas and fuchsias, that grow freely. This is why flower lovers and tropical gardeners love to visit the island. And with local wine and fresh grilled fish, you won't forget Madeira. Thanks to its temperatures, the island of "eternal spring" offers ideal conditions for playing golf on its unique courses.

Activities

The uniqueness of Funchal

You can start your trip by taking the cable car to the Monte district. At the top of this hill, you can visit the tropical garden and have lunch. The way back is provided in special "baskets". The day can be rounded off by sitting in one of the restaurants or strolling through the town in the evening.

Whale and dolphin watching from a catamaran

Comfortable catamarans will take you along the southern coast of Madeira. Keep your eyes peeled during the trip. However, the captains guarantee a high probability of spotting dolphins and whales, and exceptionally, even turtles. During the cruise, you can also enjoy a stop for a swim in the clear water below the huge 'Cabo Girão' reef.

The endless beach of Porto Santo Island

Madeira itself doesn't offer many sandy beaches. For beach lovers, it is recommended to take a boat to Porto Santo Island, where a 7km long sandy beach awaits. The boat trip from Funchal takes about two hours.

Levadas

You can admire the tropical beauty of the island while walking along one of the levadas. You will also reach a random plateau that is covered in a mystical laurel forest.

Swimming in the natural pools

During this trip you will discover the natural beauty of the island. You can also enjoy swimming in the natural pools at the very edge of the ocean.

Golf

The island of "eternal spring" offers ideal conditions for golf thanks to its temperatures.

PALHEIRO GOLF – The Palheiro Golf Course is located close to the tropical gardens, which are famous for their lush vegetation. This course offers an amazing view of the capital Funchal, the Atlantic Ocean and the Desertas Islands, which also belong to Madeira. The course attracts attention mainly due to its fairways and carefully prepared greens, which are spread among beautiful mature trees.

SANTO DA SERRA – This is one of Europe's most special golf courses. It lies in the mountains very close to the village of Santo de Serra and is covered with countless species of plants and trees. The most admired hole is No. 4 (Par 3), where you must play through a ravine with very dense vegetation. This course provides a beautiful view of the mountains, and a beautiful panorama mixed with the blue of the sky and the ocean.

Coasteering

This new activity almost originated in Madeira. During the journey, participants follow a route along the coast. It involves swimming, jumping into the water, walking and climbing on rocks. Through this activity you will discover an island with an adrenaline rush.

Canyoning

Canyoning consists of exploring a river and overcoming obstacles in its bed. Safety is guaranteed. Participants will discover the hidden natural treasures of the Madeiran hinterland.

Diving and snorkeling

Madeira also offers the beauty of the aquatic world. Snorkeling is recommended for beginners, but local diving centers offer equipment hire and expert instruction.

Stand up paddle – SUP

The interesting movement on the ocean surface using a board and paddle is interesting for both beginners and advanced water sports enthusiasts.
